Picking a strain for a kilo
A kilo is a commitment to one strain, so it is worth being sure. The greens are the most-ordered family, with Green Maeng Da the usual default. The reds centre on Red Bali. The whites are the earliest harvest and the lightest in colour. Beyond the colour families there are the regional names — Borneo, Sumatra, Thai, Malay — and the specialty blends such as Nirvana, Gold Bali and the Super series. Storing and decanting a kilo
A kilo is a large bag and it will be open for a while, so how you handle it matters more than with a small one. The approach that works: decant a few weeks’ worth into a smaller sealed container and reseal the main bag between refills. The kilo then spends almost all of its life closed, and the container taking the daily handling holds only a small fraction of your stock.
Keep it cool, dark and dry — a cupboard, not a windowsill, and not above a stove. Kratom powder is not fragile and does not need refrigeration, but heat, light and humidity all degrade it slowly, and a kilo bought at seven and a half cents a gram deserves better than a shelf in direct sun.
